about

All of the songs on my new album were written during some strange days. First, a global pandemic took the lives of 6 million people (and counting) with a disproportionate number coming from my own country. About one year into the pandemic, in March of 2020, the vaccine started to get into the arms of people like me. By September, the first wave was over and we didn’t know yet that there were more waves to come. Then, in November, Joe Biden was elected president and the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress. On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump and his supporters attempted a coup and became the first president in our history to refuse a peaceful transition of power to the candidate who defeated him.

The following year – this year - on the other side of the globe, Vladimir Putin launched an invasion into a neighboring country that had not threatened his and rationalized it with the same type of lies that are undermining American democracy. Then the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and a second assassination attempt in two years was made on the Speaker of the House.

Even though the songs on this album were written during these calamitous days, they are not about covid or coups, they are not about war or politics. They are about love and other desires. They are about addictions, and attractions, and compulsions. They are about turning a deaf ear to the shouted lies about how much we hate each other and listening instead to that whispered eternal truth that we really love each other. They are also about things that cannot be put into words, which is why this opening track is an instrumental piece.
